Jelly's Chicken Kangkong (Water Spinach) Recipe

Water Spinach or more popularly known as “Kangkong” among Filipinos are always seen in traditional dishes. This plant is commonly found in the country and is accessible, it grows in moist areas. The plant contains so much fiber and minerals like protein and carbohydrate, large amounts of Vitamin C and E.




This inexpensive but delicious vegetable can be cooked in variety of ways. In this blog post, I will feature a simple but great tasting recipe my friend, Jelly, just cooked recently. You guys can give it a try.

Jelly's Chicken Kangkong (Water Spinach) Recipe






INGREDIENTS:

1 Bunch Water Spinach (Kangkong)
3 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
2 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce
1 ½ Tablespoon Ginger, diced into small pieces
1 Whole Medium Sized Red Onion, sliced
1 Whole Large Tomato, sliced
1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
¼ Kg Chicken, chopped into small pieces
1 Pack Ginisa Mix
2 Tablespoon Cooking Oil
1 Cup Water

PROCEDURE:

1. Put cooking oil in a pan with medium heat then place onion, garlic, ginger and tomatoes for 2-3 minutes.

2. Put the chicken and wait for another 5 minutes.

3. Sprinkle the Water Spinach (Kangkong) then pour water.

4. Add the pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce and ginisa mix.

5. Simmer for 3 minutes.

6. Serve.

We all know that chocolates have been one of the most favorite comfort food of people around the world. From the early 19th century, European food chemists innovated cocoa and its extract was then used to make the modern chocolate we know. Here in a middle eastern country, everybody loves sweets and they always give chocolates as gifts, consume in snack time and is widely a popular ingredient in baking. Yesterday, one of our patients gave this truffles collection as a gift and I would say that the taste is excellent and classically sweet.

The box contains of three flavors of chocolate truffles: Dark (My favorite), White and Milk Chocolate. Sweetness is sinful. Obviously, there is a high sugar content so here I am advising you to take it on moderation. You will love the soft truffle inside as the taste will conquer and make your taste-buds on a high. This would be perfect to give on your lovers, family members or eaten in celebrations.

[Food] Murtabak a.k.a Muttabaq


As an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) here in an Arab country for two years, I experienced new things within a different culture from my motherland. One of those was the food and right now will feature one of my favorites, the Murtabak, also called Muttabaq from the word “folded” in Arabic.
This delicious traditional street food is said to be originated from Saudi Arabia and Yemen and then spread by Indian traders to Asia, the reason that aside from the Middle East, is it also popular in South East countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

Being part of everyday dish on the said countries, its popularity among people resembles culture. Flavors and ingredients of this food vary from vegetarian, meaty and sweet in some countries.
There were two kinds of Muttabaq that I had the chance to taste here. First is the one with herbs and minced beef inside, from what I have learned, it is covered with egg and flour coat. Then the other one is the egg and cheese type. Both are delectable especially when sprinkled with lemon juice extract to enhance the flavor. Well, we all could benefit from protein, carbohydrates and vitamins from the herbs and is perfect to eat on breakfast, lunch or even snack time. -FAF

Wendy's Bacon Mushroom Melt (Food Review)


Believe me it is a true Wendy's Bacon Mushroom Burger, it is just smaller here in the Philippines! From a classic Hamburger fastfood store, I think this is one of the most flavorful and mouth watering. The mushroom essence do embraces the overall taste more than the Bacon and I love mushrooms. A must try for fastfood burger lovers.

Super Bowl of China offers great Chinese food experience in huge servings complemented with their choice of bottomless drinks and unlimited choice of rice.



Their Lemon Chicken tastes sweet with the Chicken's flavor still dominating in your mouth.




The second one is their Deep-fried Cuttlefish w/ Spicy Salt, I love the texture which is crunchy smooth and the taste is neutral.

The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak: The mix and turn steak experience


The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak offers a good eating experience packed with varieties of food from steaks, burgers, Japanese cuisine and some unique desserts. Their food were actually served in a sizzling' hot plate and you have  to choose what dressings/sauces you want to mix and bottomless iced-tea punch would make you dining worth every cent.

Selecta Magnum: Chocolate Truffle

Filipinos nowadays are going crazy about a famous ice cream brand by Selecta called Magnum. It is an ice cream bar on three different flavors (in the Philippines) with thick chocolate coatings. Popular internationally, it was just recently released in the Philippines this year. In spite of its talked about expensive-for-its-size value, it was still on trend and people even take pictures with it then post them on different social networking sites.

The first and so far the only one I have tasted is the Chocolate Truffle flavor, made of what they said Belgian chocolate mix, the taste is extremely sweet and delightful. Expensive to buy for a lot of people but for ice cream enthusiasts, a must try.
