Typhoon Sendong: Aftermath and how we can help

December 16, 2011, the deadly tropical storm Sendong also known internationally as cyclone Washi began devastating the south of the Philippines particularly in most of Mindanao areas. The towns that experienced greater damages were mainly Cagayan de Oro and Iligan and some parts of Sulu and Palawan. There were more than 1000 casualties who died and more than 50 missing and still counting making it one of the top deadly weather phenomena that ever hit the country.

The nation is in grief and wrath experiencing the typhoon’s aftermath. Starvation, homeless families, millions cost of agriculture damage, and most of all those children with became orphans instantly as well as parents who lost their children. It is dreary to imagine how they will celebrate Christmas seasons. We, people in the north have scrumptious meals, parties, new clothes with our families while they were grieving with hungry stomachs and sleeping in congested evacuation centers. May we not only pray for them but also share some portion of what we have.

Posted in this blog entry are the links of various institutions that are doing their part in helping our countrymen in the South hoping it could serve as a guide to my blog visitors who have hearts willing to help.
